Sofie baking muffins | austin children photography

We love to bake and cook!
Sofie is getting to an age where she can actually take direction and have enough of an attention span to follow through with a longer set of tasks…very exciting!

So we decided to bake!
She did so well!  Made a bit of a mess but hey- that’s baking!
So proud of my girl! Way to go kid! And I think she had a lot of fun!
We got the recipe from Real Mom Kitchen blog!
Scroll down for the details or click the link to make your own!
The muffins were easy to make, and are very tasty! I think I might have left them in the oven 3 minutes too long.  It’s always tricky to know the correct time when baking a new recipe.  We will make these again!

Here are some photos from our baking day!

Fresh Strawberry Muffins

 1/2 cup butter, softened
3/4 cup sugar
1 egg
2 cups flour
2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 cup milk
1/2 tsp vanilla
1 1/2 cups chopped strawberries
3 tsp sugar
1/2 tsp cinnamon

Cream butter and sugar. Add egg and mix well.

Sift flour, baking powder, and salt in a small bowl. Add flour mixture and milk alternately to butter mixture. Add vanilla. Gently stir in strawberries.
 Spoon batter into muffin pans.
Combine sugar and cinnamon and sprinkle over muffins.
Bake at 400º for 20-25 minutes.
 Makes one dozen muffins.

Samantha + Derick | a georgetown engagement session

There are a couple of lovely people I would like to introduce you to!
Meet Samantha and Derick!
These two are so sweet, so in love and so fun to be with!  I had a blast with them!  They have the best chemistry and so easy to photograph- I can’t wait for their wedding later this year!

We shot their photos at a lovely park in Georgetown, TX!  This place means a lot to them.  Derick works with at risk youth and one of the things he likes to involve them in is taking care of spaces like this park. The work they do preserving plants, ponds and nature must be so soothing and good for them.
This park is where Sam and Derick really formed a bond and fell in love.  He would bring her here to tell her about his world and I think it’s safe to say that she liked what she saw!  I am so glad they took me there- I can’t wait to take my family there and show them all the beauty of this hidden little place!
Thank you guys for a lovely time!

Jeralyn + Mitch | a Dallas engagement session

I’ve known Jeralyn for a long time!  She is a sweet friend and when she found her darling Mitch, I was so excited for her and for him!
Then she asked to shoot her wedding- and I can’t tell you how much that meant to me!
To have a friend ask you to document such a big event is wonderful, overwhelming and amazing! I am so excited! One thing I don’t love about Jeralyn is that she does not live in Austin anymore so I can’t see her often!  I guess I’ll just have to drive up to Dallas, which is what I did to shoot their engagement session.
It was so nice to see them, spend time in their new home and they even cooked me dinner!

Here is to more dinners ya’ll!
I can’t wait for your wedding day!
Love you!
Their dinning chairs had not arrived yet!  I looked at Jeralyn and she looked at me and we knew exactly what was next- an ode to Sixteen Candles!

Karmyn and Alex | antebellum oaks wedding

I am so excited to finally be able to show off this lovely wedding!
I can’t tell you how much fun it was for me to work with Karmyn and Alex!  They are creative and fun!  I felt like the whole process was a lovely collaboration where we bounced ideas off each other and ended up on the same page pretty much the whole time!

Their engagement session at ABIA was epic and Kar’s bridals at Barr Mansion were so awesome that I have no words!

Their wedding did not disappoint this photographer’s eye!!  So beautiful, so vibrant and so fun!  I don’t even know where the day went, I was having so much fun!  The lovely ceremony at the Transfiguration Greek Orthodox Church was so amazing and the reception was out of this world!
I am officially in love with Greek weddings…please hire me so I can dance with you and break some plates! haha!

Ok enough of me talking- cause I could go on and on… here are a fraction of my favorite photos!

Wedding ceremony: Transfiguration Greek Orthodox Church

Wedding reception: Antebellum Oaks

Cake: Polkadots cupcake factory

Music: Matchmaker Band

Flowers: STEMS Floral Design
