Christen + Brian | Perry Mansion wedding photography

Oh my, oh my!
Where do I even start?  This wedding was beyond creative, fabulous, wonderful and sweet!  I met Christen for the first time at Jenny and Easton’s wedding where she was the maid of honor and caught the bouquet.    So- when she called me and met me over coffee to tell me about her wedding I was so excited!     2.5 hours later and we had talked about what we’ve been up to, life, work, family and of course the wedding.

She told me what her vision was and I was so excited and so hoping that would get to shoot her wedding!   Well- lucky me…I did!!
I have never done a blog post that is this long but seriously, I could not cut any more photos out of this post.
Sit back, relax and meet the lovely Christen and Brian!

Christen and Brian- if you are reading this- from the bottom on my heart, thank you for allowing me to capture your special day and to get to know you.   I wish I could come to Italy with you!  Send me a post card!  : )

Let’s start things off with the dress!  The dress used to be long- but in Christen style, she altered it and jazzed it up with a vintage broach. LOVELY!

And She wore her Nana’s vintage shoes that Nana wore on her wedding day!  Oh my gosh- that’s just so so cool!

Another very special item was Nana’s bible. She carried it down the aisle on her wedding day and so did Christen.  I just love that!

Spray it!!!!!

And here is the lovely Jenny helping Christen get ready!  HUGS!!

As if this whole look was not adorable enough- the dress has POCKETS!!!!  haha!

Behold Christen’s creation!
All of the items are either a family treasure, a find at a resale shop or something that Christen and Brian own or put together for the wedding.  I could not even believe how amazing this was when I walked in! I nearly had a stroke! haha!

Some of the detail photos are courtesy of my awesome friend and second shooter James of James Dvorscak Photography.

Meet Brian!  When you meet him you just know that he is one of the nicest people you have ever met.  He and Christen are like two peas in a pod!  So perfect together!

And he is handsome too!

So this next photo- let me explain!
Christen wanted to do this (photo on the left) for their engagement session. It is based on a photograph she loves.  Brian wanted to surprise her with (the photo of the right) a similar photo!  Told you he’s awesome!

Ceremony time!!

I love this place!!!

Oh and then the light was just right too!  And why not?  Everything else was perfect!!  <3

Christen- you are so beautiful!  : )

The girls!  All the dresses were custom made.  Christen wanted a very unique vintage look- love!!

The rings!

And a stolen moment for a few more shots!

James and I tagged teamed the exit!  He got Christen and Brian running and I got the car!  : )

Flush mount albums | designed by Sherry Hammonds

I love getting albums in the mail!   It’s so neat to see the pages I designed printed up and bound into stunning albums.

It’s the end result of a lot of work!  Think of all the work that went into planning a wedding, all those people involved who made it happen, then all the photos that were shot, retouched, then picked and finally realized into an album!
That’s just so cool!

I like to take some photos of the albums I get in the mail, before sending them off!  Not sure why!  Maybe it’s beacuse I love them too and I want to have some type of reminder of how fun it was to design them.

Here are Michelle/Matt and Laura/Mark’s albums!

It’s hot in TX! | wedding flowers at Vintage Villas

Ok- people, so needless to say it’s hot out!  Today was 99 degrees and tomorrow we have a high of 102!  yikes!   I always somehow forget how hot it gets around here.

One thing that goes first in the heat/ in TX/ at weddings/ is the flowers.  So so sad!  I mean, here comes the poor florist all excited and delivers the flowers 30 minutes before the ceremony to make sure they are fresh and then by the time the I-do’s are done…well so are the flowers!

But, there are some simple and very pretty things you can do to keep your flowers fresh.  Check out this idea from Erin and Christian’s wedding this past weekend.   I took this photos almost 2 hours after the ceremony and those little arrangements were still stunning. Note that these little guys were hanging in the sun when we arrived nearly 2 hours before the ceremony!!

I can’t wait to show you more photos from this awesome wedding- but here is the sneak peek!  : )

Stunning!  Love these!

Emily + Dave | Villa Antonia wedding photography

Dave and Emily- what can I say about this lovely couple?   To say that they have been super awesome and fun to work with, is an understatement.   Take the engagement session…Emily wears a cowboy hat, there is some home-slice involved and they buy me candy!    The bridal session…Emily brings along blue shoes, bright flowers and candy!  And then there is the wedding… the wedding was at the stunning Villa Antonia and it was so pretty, so colorful, so fun!  I really think that every single person had a blast that night!

On top of all this awesomeness, I got to have the amazing Dave from DCM Photography along for this wedding.  Once you’ve looked at the photos below you should take a little trip to his blog to see even more photos.

Emily and Dave, I can’t thank you enough for letting me document your day and for getting to know you.    Oh- I also have to thank my awesome friend and former bride Jenny who recommended me to Emily…you rock!

What is this?  An Oscar acceptance speech?   I’m going to stop now so you can look at some photos…please ignore me!!!!

Stunning!

Ladybug!

Usually I’m too far away to be able to catch both the bride walking and the groom’s reaction…but I am so glad I was in just the right spot for this one.
Can you imagine what Dave was thinking just then?  hehe!

Everyone was so relaxed after the ceremony!  One of my favorite photos of the day!

Never had a photo of the bride/groom that also included a gargoyle!  Can you spot him?  He’s kinds of cute!

Lots of very colorful, very pretty details!  Emily is a girl after my own heart!

I always think it’s super neat when the bridal party does something special at the reception- like these guys!

PARTY!

Flush Mount Albums | Let’s have some fun!

I love making albums!   I put a lot of work into them and I love making them unique and fun.     To me, the key to a successful album is  keeping it classic but being able to inject a little bit of the couple’s personality into it.

I recently made a album for Chelsea and Matt and I really like the results.   Chelsea picked a cover that is classic yet modern.  The pattern on the black leather really makes their album stand out among the rest.  She also wanted to use some of her wedding day colors in the album.
To all my couples who are about to order their albums I would like to say this:  don’t be afraid to have fun and be unique!

Tirdad | Austin portrait photography

My brother visited us this past month and we had so much fun running around town and eating lots of good food!

One of the things that he wanted to do while here was to get a tattoo he’s been wanting for a while- so we went to see Megan who is the owner of Bijou.   Bijou is a really cool tattoo shop just a couple of block away from the Urban Wedding Diva’s studio.  The walls are packed with amazing art and it’s as Austin as it can get!      Megan has done a little bit of work for me and I love her.  So- when it came to recommending someone to Tirdad- well, she was the first person that came to mind.

The tattoo took almost 4 hours and I can’t believe my brother did it all without breaking a sweat!  wow!

Here are a few photos!

The before/after shot!

Then a few days (or nights- as it was after midnight) later, once the tattoo had healed a little, we took some fun photos!

Tirdad calls me a camera- nerd!  Well- thanks for the compliment and thanks for letting me take a bunch of photos of you!  You know how much I love it! haha!

Adrianna + Josh | A vista West Ranch Wedding

When I met Adrianna for the first time, she told me that she was not having a traditional wedding…and she was right!
Their wedding was:  a country chic venue, a 50’s inspired dress, lots of colorful flowers, a Buddhist ceremony and a mariachi band!!   Can’t get cooler than that!
On top of all that, Adrianna and Josh are the sweetest, most awesome couple you’ll ever meet!  I have had so much fun with these two since day one!   I mean check out the idea they had for their engagement photos!

There are just way too many photos for me to share here- I have soooo many favorites!   It was hard to narrow it down to this- really!!
Enjoy!

Adrianna, you are stunning!

They decide to see each-other before the ceremony.
Every time I have a couple that goes for a “first look” option, I get so excited!  They got to take photos while there was daylight, and we took the photos without having the pressure of getting to reception on time.  I can’t tell you how relaxing it is to do your photos this way!   Thank you guys for allowing me time to take photos of you- love you!  : )

Ok- I know this post is basically photos of Adrianna and Josh…but I can’t help myself!

Josh is so stylish!  Love this look for summer weddings!

Vista West Ranch has some really cool spots for photos!

The water feature worked out so well for this very special ceremony.

Check out those red hot boots!

Thank you Adrianna and Josh for an amazing time!  : )

Mandy and James | austin wedding photography – Memory Lane Event Center

If there is one thing to be said about Mandy and James it’s that they are energetic, hilarious, sweet and stunning!  Yeah- yeah, I know that’s more than one thing but these two are so awesome that you can’t describe them in one word!
I had such a great time working with these two and I am truly sad that we are done with their wedding!   I sure hope I get to see them soon again!
So- without further ado…here are some of my favorites from the big day!
Stunning dress- stunning girl!

I love this moment.  Mandy’s dad saw her for the first time in her beautiful gown. : )

In the meanwhile- the guys were getting ready as well!

tic-tac is handy right before the ceremony!

The light was getting just right when we got back to Memory Lane for some photos.

I just would like to say that this fun stuff is all Mandy and James!  I could hardly contain them- and why would I?!!

The shot below is ode to a shot we got from Mandy and James’ engagement session.  Click here and scroll all the way down…promise- it’s worth it!  : )

Birds were everywhere and the groom’s cake was a chopper!

Friends played the song for the first dance- I love that!

Mandy’s dad is a sweet-heart!

The mother- son dance was all about fun!

And the fun just kept going!

These two are just too much fun to photograph!

Thank you Mandy and James for an amazing time!  I had so much fun working with you and it’s been wonderful to get to know you.  So glad we get to keep in touch on Facebook!  Wishing you all the best!  : )

Churches are awesome too! | austin wedding photography

I think my love for taking photos outside sometimes decides what ends up on the blog!   Lately I’ve noticed that I am not showing off my church ceremony photos all too much and that’s a shame!

As a teen, I used to run around with my camera and take photos of churches all over the place and I guess this is as good as time as any to show a few of my church/ceremony photos.

I don’t like using flash in churches so about 95% of the photos you see here are taken with available light.  Besides- a lot of churches have rules against using flash- and well, it’s a good thing that I can do without!

Some of the photos below are courtesy of my fabulous friend and second shooter James of James Dvorscak Photography.
A  lot of times we can’t move around very much during the ceremony so it is super handy to have two people shooting.  We always coordinate so we can get all those important shots.

Enjoy!
