Addie and John | austin engagement photography

May and June have been super crazy months with loads of fun shoots- and that means that my blogging has suffered!  I am now going to try to catch up and show off all the fun sessions and weddings I have shot during the last couple of months.

So- to start things off let’s have a look at the awesome session I shot with the fabulous Addie and John- who are now Mr. and Mrs!

I can’t tell you enough good things about this sweet couple!  First of all, you can spot the chemistry between them a mile away!  Now let’s add a whole lot of energy and the willingness to try some fun new locations!
Addie, John- thanks for the awesome session!  You are amazing!

Addie is so sassy and I love her shoes!

John is so handsome!  Look at that hair!

Oh- and I forgot to say…we had some amazing light to work with!

Favorite photo of the day!

Even the peacocks at Mayfield were in the mood that day!

Hello- are you kidding me?  Stunning!

Adrianna and Josh | 50’s themed engagement shoot

So the first time I met Adrianna she told me that she was not a traditional bride and that she wanted something different for her engagement and wedding photos…that was music to my ears!

After pulling a few strings, a few hair trial, some online shopping and a flight home for Josh- we ended up with these photos!     I love it!

The cool WWII replica B-25 bomber in the back is the Devil Dog!
A huge thank you for the people at Pilot’s Choice – specially Beth and Bridgett- for letting us come and play in the hanger!  Also thanks to my lovely friend Diana for helping us arrange this shoot.

I love this one!

So cool!  I can’t believe how stylish these two looked in their outfits!

We stepped outside, as the sun was setting.  What a perfect light!

And then a wardrobe change! I got to spray Adrianna’s hair with water and sorry Josh for digging in your bag!

A polka dots cardigan…oh, that almost ended up in my camera bag!
If you know me- then you know that I LOVE cardigans!!

Thank you Adrianna and Josh for an amazing shoot!  I can’t wait to shoot your wedding in just a couple of weeks.
Thank you also to Kristi Wright for all the help.  I bet you can head over to her blog and see a few of her pics!

Erin & Christian – downtown Austin engagement photography

I have been sitting on some really fun engagement photos and it is time to start showing you a few of them!

This is Erin and Christian!
What a sweet couple!  They drove to Austin for their engagement session.  I’m always so grateful when couples make such a big effort to have me take their photos.    Thank you guys!  : )

This was no ordinary session!   We had a bit of drama in the beginning of our shoot – we got harassed by a homeless guy accusing me of taking photos of him- Omg!  Like why would I even, right?!!

After this little bit of oddness- we moved on to East Austin and some other of my favorite spots for more photos.  This was truly the first warm day after the crazy snow and everyone in Austin was out!  People were enjoying the sunshine, skipping along the road at the park, hula hooping and well- being Austin!

It was certainly contagious and before I knew it I’m shooting Erin and Christian hula hooping and having a water fight!
Here are a few of the ones I love!

They can be sweet or bad-ass!  haha!

The close up photo is truly a candid moment!  I was testing the shot but I loved it so much that it made the final batch!

So we see these two guys pushing an amplifier and some hula hoops across the park!
Well- we had to go see what was up and then…this happened!

What a fun afternoon!  Thank you Erin and Christian for being up for pretty much anything!  LOVE!
I can’t wait for your wedding in July!

Guest book – austin engagement photography

Guest books are awesome!

I got married a little over 6 years ago and not knowing any better, I went with the traditional fancy book to collect notes and signatures from our friends and family. To be perfectly honest, I have no idea where that book is today!

This is why I encourage my couples to use their engagement photos and make a custom guest book for their big day.
Here are some reasons!

1- You get to actually put your awesome engagement photos to use.
2- Share the photos with all your guests who may not ever have been able to see them otherwise.
3- Most important, you’ll end up with a cool little book that you can proudly display in your home and continue to show off all those fun engagement shots and encouraging notes you received on your wedding day.

Give me a call and I’ll hook you up!  : )
Check out this one I made for Sathya and Matt!  They’re getting married tomorrow!  woohoo!

Here is one of my many favorites from Addie and John’s engagement photo session- I have many more I want to show you!
What a fun, sweet, cute couple!  Yeay- Addie and John!  : )

Mandy & James – austin engagement photography

I love fun engagement sessions!
What is fun you say?  Well- let me explain!  Fun is being goofy, free, happy, in love and cute!   Incidentally all of that is the perfect description of Mandy and James!!    We met on a sunny, beautiful mid afternoon for some photos.  We started the shoot at “Hey Cupcake” on south congress and really- when a shoot start with eating a cupcake- how can it not be a great shoot?!

But this was not just an regular old engagement shoot!  We had a pretty dramatic end to this shoot- but I’ll get to that in a minute. In the meanwhile- check out some of the photos!  Aren’t these two so so cute?

So I go to my car to get a lens and this is what I see when I turn around!  I love cuteness when it’s not posed!

Mandy found a cute shop!!

Mandy is a Dancer and James- well, he’s good at playing along!  : )

So this is our dramatic finish!
We wanted to get some shots in the middle of congress- I got in position and was ready with the camera.  James picked up Mandy and started running with her crossing the street!  Well- this worked out well at first but things took a drastic turn very quickly and we ended this shoot with a great big fall that included bloody knees and elbows, road rash and a totally ruined pair of jeans!   Exciting stuff!

mjblog10

And then- a few hours after the shoot I get this photo in my inbox!  ouch, indeed!  haha!

ouchie

Thank you James and Mandy for a really fun shoot and for sacrificing your elbows for some unforgettable shots!  Thank you also for being so funny and generally awesome!  Can’t wait for our next shoot!    Sherry : )

Lauren + Preston – austin engagement photography

Cute…check!
Stylish…check!
In love…check!
Funny…check!
I love working with them…check!

Lauren and Preston made my job easy!  They had lots of great ideas!  I love coming up with locations and ideas for a shoot, but it is 100x more fun if a couple is involved in the planning like these two were.   Check out a few on my favorites!

lpengblog2

We started things off at The Madison.

Jeff- the owner- knows Lauren and Preston and he let us have some fun inside.
It’s always funny to be inside a place where you usually only would see at night. Things look different in daylight- it was totally like we were the cool kids who got let back-stage!

lpengblog3

I LOVE this wall!

lpengblog4

Then we headed around town for some outdoor stuff!

lpengblog5

I’ve shot a this wall A LOT- but with these guys it was all fresh and new!

lpengblog6

lpengblog8

Seriously- how cute are these guys?!!

I love Lauren’s shirt…and her little puppy!

lpengblog12

Preston pulled a few strings and we ended up on the roof-top of one of the tall buildings downtown! Yeay!

lpengblog13

And…I still have Lauren’s bridals and their fabulous wedding to look forward to!  Thank you guys for a fun shoot!

Emily and David- austin engagement photography

I am in process of shooting engagements for my 2010 couples and it makes me happy that I have so many awesome weddings to look forward to next year.   The reason I know they are going to be awesome weddings is because of these super fun engagement sessions!

One couple that I am so excited to work with is Emily and David.  Emily was a bridesmaid at Jenny and Easton’s amazing wedding I shot a couple of years ago.  I am so so happy that she remembered me!  Yeay Emily!

Emily and David are a super sweet and creative couple and they had some fun ideas for me- so together we ran around town and took some photos!  I have to say that I am pretty happy with the results! Thanks for an inspiring session.   : )

We started things off at the north side of the Capitol.   Emily has the best candid laugh!

Then David spotted this cool church across the street and he immediately decided that he needed a photo while doing the slide!

edeng2

Next stop was downtown.  We parked in a garage and ended up with some “garage photos”!

edeng3

David works at the Frost- and of course we had to include the crazy cool building in a few pics!

edeng6

Time to re-charge those batteries with a little snack!

And…you need something sweet after a meal…

This one is my favorite shot of the day!
Emily: “Look, you’re buying me this much candy!”

You can’t be in this area and not take advantage of all this color…I love it!

Mandy + Allan – austin engagement photography

Mandy and Allan are Mr. and Mrs. and I have so many of their photos to show you!     We got Mandy’s bridals…their wedding…
But let’s start things off with the engagements!
First off- I love it when couples wear colors to engagement shoots!  Yeay for Mandy and Allan for great outfits!
I feel like engagements really set the tone for photographer/bride+groom relationship.  It’s like if you have fun at the engagement shoot- the rest is going to be great too!

I can certainly say that I had fun at this shoot.  This sweet couple surprised me with how much fun they had, the ideas that they had and how open minded they were to my ideas.  I LOOOVE that!

Just wait until you get to see Mandy’s bridals!  The above sentence rang true for that day too!

Let’s start thing off with Miss beautiful eyes here!  : )
