Happy Halloween!

Happy Halloween everyone!

Sofie is a little too young for sweets or trick and treating but you know I had to get  her in a costume for some pics!
Here are a few from our 10 minute session this morning!

Oh- the costume prop goes to Miss Holly Pryor!  She got this for her little girl a couple of years ago and let us borrow it this year.  I like the special made headband the best!

New Chair – austin children photography

Sofie is working very hard at sitting up!  She is getting so good at holding her head up- so we got her a Bumbo chair!   I think she likes it!

Sofie in her room- Austin baby photography

We just finished painting the dresser for Sofie’s room.  That was a learning experience!  haha!    If you don’t know anything about staining furniture- please get some help before you get going!  It is a whole different mess than painting!

We put some fun bright stuff on her walls and the yellow curtains my mom made finish off the room.   We wanted her room to be super sunny and bright- I hope she likes it!

I made this mobile for her- she seems to enjoy looking at it!

My best girl, Arlana, made this cute tree for Sofie!  Love it!

Buckner Villas

It’s amazing how Hurricane Ike effected the lives of so many. I have friends who live in Houston so I was of course checking on them- and I knew that people had been evacuated from Louisiana as well. Of course that is highly stressful for all those who had to leave their homes behind to save their lives but for some reason I did not think that this affected the people of Austin as much.

A few weeks ago, I had my eyes opened! I got to go to the Buckner Villas. Buckner Villas is a retirement community connected to Buckner International- a non-profit organization that helps orphans, families and children at risk.

Buckner Villas had embraced a large number of men and woman who had been evacuated from Louisiana.  This meant a lot of hard work and over time for the staff.  Not only did they continue taking well care of their own residents but they made a home for their guests as well- and they did this with a smile on their face.

I really enjoyed spending time with these sweet and generous people.  Thank you for letting me be there to document the afternoon.

Here are a few of the photos.

Erin + Andrew | Mexico destination wedding photography

It’s been a very busy couple of weeks- but fun weeks!

Sean and I had the great honor of traveling to Isla Mujeres (tiny island 20 minutes from Cancun), to shoot Erin and Andrew’s wedding.  Oh my gosh- it was so fun! The island was absolutely beautiful and all we saw from Gustav were a couple of days of huge waves and a couple of quick showers- not bad at all!

Erin and Andrew are such a great couple.  I got to shoot some family photos of Erin’s sister, Heather, her husband Ryan and their baby girl Marie about a year ago.  When Erin was planning her wedding, Heather was kind enough to pass along my name and the rest is history!

The great thing about being on a tiny island for 5 days with a couple and their family is that you get to know them.  The fact that Erin and Andrew’s family and friends were totally fun, crazy and super sweet was a total cherry on top!  I feel I have found a bunch of new friends. I wish I could spend this much time with every couple.

Thank you everyone for having us along- we had a blast!

I just have to share a few of these photos!

More to come…

Gustav was long gone by the time of the wedding!

Is that not the cutest dress? Erin and Andrew looked amazing- dressed perfectly for the location!

Sean got this cool shot of Andrew just minutes before the ceremony.

Below are a couple of shots from our “Day After” session! The light was so perfect!

Sean got a shot of me while we were doing the “Day After” photos. This was just the beginning- I ended up waist deep in water! It felt nice!

Here is the photo I was getting!

We walked around the island looking for fun things to photograph!

These iguanas were everywhere! This was a big one! Must be a grand-dad!
