Sydney- in a tutu! | Austin toddler photography

Meet Sydney!

For Halloween, this cute little girl got a tutu and a cute matching headband!  Sydney’s mom, who is a really good friend of mine, wanted some photos of her in the little outfit!   I immediately thought, oh I want some sun flare in these shots.

So we drove around looking for just the right spot- and we found it! We only had about 10 minutes of sunlight left so we got to work and Sydney totally got into it too!   She was smiling, talking, playing with her teddy bear and was just darn cute!

Here are a few of my favorite shots- isn’t she just adorable?!

Awww- I love this one!

Chris + Christina | south congress photography

You know you’re dealing with a cool couple when they call you up and say: we want go with an urban decay feel for our engagements.   Then you realize how cool they really are when you, in a total shot in the dark, suggest going to a Laundromat and they say yes!

I had a wonderful time exploring the back roads around soco with this awesome couple.  It was so fun and we found some cool new spots.
They are getting married out of state so unfortunately I won’t be shooting their wedding- but they promised to send me a photo from their big day.  : )

Thank you guys for a very inspiring session.

Here are just a few of my favorites!

cool door!

We found this staircase and had to play a little with the light!

I love this car!

AYKM with this?   Christina- u look amazing!  I love everything about this shoot!

And here are the laundromat photos!  Oh- this was so fun!

Unbridaled photo shoot | austin Bridal photography

Oh- ask me how much fun I had on this shoot… really ask!

This was an amazing shoot that I have been wanting to get together for a while. There are so many people who pitched in to make this happen and here they are:

Ladies- seriously!  Go to Unbridaled!  Kim, the owner with amazing taste and style, will help you find the wedding gown of your dreams.   Thank you Kim and Monica for all your help.

Production Manager and coordinator:  The fabulous Jessica Reynolds
Without this woman this shoot would not have been nearly as cool as it was.  Jessica is amazing and very resourceful.  Give her a call if you need to put an event together- she’ll take care of you!

Hair and Makeup:  The very talented Ann-Monique Hearn
This woman is amazing!  We told her what looks we wanted and she delivered! Wow!

The gorgeous models: Katheryan, Leslie Anne and Ashlee
I had the pleasure to meet these ladies and they were a complete blast to work with. Talk about making my job easy!

Locations:  The Blanton Museum and The Monarch
Thank you so much for letting us use your beautiful venues.

Production Assistants: My own dear husband, Sean and the lovely Lauren Williams
Thank you both for spending the whole day taking care of the little details and shooting the behind the scenes photos.
Here is some of the behind the scenes action and a few of my favorite photos.

Just a photo that I like!

I have moods when it comes to editing photos!

I like certain things, then I discover something new and it becomes my new favorite technique. I guess that’s how it is when you learn new things all the time- which is the real nature of photography.
This photo in a sample of one of those moments. I am loving the blur effect on photos right now. It does not work on every shot of course but I really love it on the right photo.
Here is a favorite from Janice and David’s wedding at the Creekside Pavillion.

Buckner Villas

It’s amazing how Hurricane Ike effected the lives of so many. I have friends who live in Houston so I was of course checking on them- and I knew that people had been evacuated from Louisiana as well. Of course that is highly stressful for all those who had to leave their homes behind to save their lives but for some reason I did not think that this affected the people of Austin as much.

A few weeks ago, I had my eyes opened! I got to go to the Buckner Villas. Buckner Villas is a retirement community connected to Buckner International- a non-profit organization that helps orphans, families and children at risk.

Buckner Villas had embraced a large number of men and woman who had been evacuated from Louisiana.  This meant a lot of hard work and over time for the staff.  Not only did they continue taking well care of their own residents but they made a home for their guests as well- and they did this with a smile on their face.

I really enjoyed spending time with these sweet and generous people.  Thank you for letting me be there to document the afternoon.

Here are a few of the photos.

Sarah + James | starhill ranch wedding photography

On to the third wedding!

This was one of those weddings I have been looking forward to all year.  The reason for that is these two photo sessions:  Engagements and Bridals!   I’ve had such a good time getting to know Sarah and James.  They are the sweetest, most down to earth, good kind of people ever.

I’m so excited that they decided to let me shoot their wedding.  The wedding was at the Beautiful Starhill Ranch- which is one of my favourite venues in town.  It was the perfect fit for Sarah and James’ Texas inspiried wedding.

There was so much work put into this wedding.  I have shot at Starhill several times and I have never seen the place transformed like this.  When I walked into the reception site, I honestly had a hard time deciding what to shoot- because there was so much to shoot! These people paid attention to details!

I told Sarah that I was a little sad the wedding was over because that meant that we are all done with our shoots. : (    I sure hope I get to hang out with this awesome couple soon again.

Thank you so much for having me there on your wedding day- I loved it!

Here I thought Sarah looked amazing when we did her bridals- well I know she looked even better on her wedding day.  It’s got to be the glow!

Hi James! The guys got ready in the cool old gas station, turned into a bar, into the groom’s place!

They had a friend play the music for the wedding.  This guys just looks cool- doesn’t he?

Right before the ceremony- I love the look on James’ face.  Wonder if he’s thinking of his lovely bride…

Even the flower girl was excited! Isn’t she adorable?!

Right after the ceremony- the kiss!  I love it when I am able to catch that tiny little moment between the bride and groom right before the wedding party catches up to them.
I love how Sarah’s hair looked for her wedding. So classic and so beautiful! And fyi, the flowers in her hair are the same as the little flowers in the bouquet and also on her dress. I told you, attention to details!

Here is what happened:

James: “It took lots of effort and money to get this tractor here- we should get some photos of it.”
Sherry: “YES!  What are we waiting for?!”

A few shots of the newly weds.  I just love photographing this couple! Oh and check out the cool boots!

Here are a few shots of the details of the big day.  The talented Jodi Friedman made this comp.  She is Jodi from the awesome MCP Actions.  She’s got lots of fun stuff for all you photoshop lovers out there.  She asked me to give her a few shots for her website and I was happy to show off my photos from this awesome wedding. Thanks Jodi!  It looks great!

I knew there was another reason why I liked James! He’s a longhorn! Go Horns!

One of my favorite shots of the night…

Amy + Landry | Marble Falls wedding photography

The second post on my list of August weddings is Amy and Landry.

We drove to Marble Falls for the wedding. I really enjoy going outside of Austin or places I’ve never been to, for shoots.  It’s so fun to shoot in new locations.   I had met Amy and Landry once before when we all met to check out the church and reception site.  After that meeting I was so excited about the wedding.

The wedding day did not disappoint! Amy was totally smashing beautiful and Landry very handsome.  The reception site blew me away!  This family had spend countless hours making the decorations, center pieces and all the other details for the wedding.
I have so many favorites form this wedding I had a hard time picking photos to post!

Thank you everyone for including us in the celebration of your big day.  It was beautiful and we had a blast.

Cool dress moment!  The girls did such a good job of getting the dress on Amy and not messing up her hair.

This is one of my all time favorite mother/daughter shots ever.  It just makes me teary eyed looking at it.

Uh- I told you she was smashing beautiful!

Seriously- I seem to say this on every photo- but the close up shot of Amy below is my favourit bridal shots I have taken.  Hands down!

And the girls!

Then we drove to the reception site to get some shots of the guys.

Please- how cool is Landry?  love this shot!

These guys were so awesome to work with. They really took on what I suggested and I love the way their photo turned out.

Amy and Landry wanted to do a -I can’t see you but I want a moment with you- before the ceremony.  So sweet!

This is right after the ceremony.  That’s got to be the most wonderful hug.  He loves her so much and that’s so sweet.

Party time! A little song from Amy’s sorority sisters.

Amy wanted a sillouette shot. We set it up and they stepped outside for a few moments to get this shot. I love it when couples are as excited about the photos as we are.  : )

Janice + David | Creekside Pavillion wedding

So- I have been so so behind on my blog posts and today I decided I was going to just take some time and post all my August weddings.  I really enjoyed these weddings, so it’s about time I shared my take on these 3 very sweet and amazing weddings.

First up is Janice and David!

These two got married at the creek side pavilion and we had an unusually nice and cool day- for being August that is! The sunset ceremony was very sweet and the light totally awesome.   Once the party started, there were so many people on the dance floor jumping around, that I could swear the floor was shaking!

Thank you Janice and David for having me there on your special day. : )

This first one is one of my favorite prep photos ever!

We ran a little short on daylight after the ceremony so we got some night shots for Janice and David.

Janice- you have really pretty eyes! They’re so blue!

Let the party get started!

This was a near cake-in-the-face moment!

And then the tuxedo shirts came out! OMG! That was hilarious!

Ok- I love these two shots. This is towards the end of the night. Janice and David are having a romantic moment here- but he is wearing a tuxedo shirt! That’s so funny and just shows the goofy personality of these two!

It’s my duty to share this!

Please take a few moments to watch this and then send it to your friends.
