Guest book – austin engagement photography

Guest books are awesome!

I got married a little over 6 years ago and not knowing any better, I went with the traditional fancy book to collect notes and signatures from our friends and family. To be perfectly honest, I have no idea where that book is today!

This is why I encourage my couples to use their engagement photos and make a custom guest book for their big day.
Here are some reasons!

1- You get to actually put your awesome engagement photos to use.
2- Share the photos with all your guests who may not ever have been able to see them otherwise.
3- Most important, you’ll end up with a cool little book that you can proudly display in your home and continue to show off all those fun engagement shots and encouraging notes you received on your wedding day.

Give me a call and I’ll hook you up!  : )
Check out this one I made for Sathya and Matt!  They’re getting married tomorrow!  woohoo!

Mandy & James – austin engagement photography

I love fun engagement sessions!
What is fun you say?  Well- let me explain!  Fun is being goofy, free, happy, in love and cute!   Incidentally all of that is the perfect description of Mandy and James!!    We met on a sunny, beautiful mid afternoon for some photos.  We started the shoot at “Hey Cupcake” on south congress and really- when a shoot start with eating a cupcake- how can it not be a great shoot?!

But this was not just an regular old engagement shoot!  We had a pretty dramatic end to this shoot- but I’ll get to that in a minute. In the meanwhile- check out some of the photos!  Aren’t these two so so cute?

So this is our dramatic finish!
We wanted to get some shots in the middle of congress- I got in position and was ready with the camera.  James picked up Mandy and started running with her crossing the street!  Well- this worked out well at first but things took a drastic turn very quickly and we ended this shoot with a great big fall that included bloody knees and elbows, road rash and a totally ruined pair of jeans!   Exciting stuff!

And then- a few hours after the shoot I get this photo in my inbox!  ouch, indeed!  haha!

Thank you James and Mandy for a really fun shoot and for sacrificing your elbows for some unforgettable shots!  Thank you also for being so funny and generally awesome!  Can’t wait for our next shoot!    Sherry : )

Emily and David- austin engagement photography

I am in process of shooting engagements for my 2010 couples and it makes me happy that I have so many awesome weddings to look forward to next year.   The reason I know they are going to be awesome weddings is because of these super fun engagement sessions!

One couple that I am so excited to work with is Emily and David.  Emily was a bridesmaid at Jenny and Easton’s amazing wedding I shot a couple of years ago.  I am so so happy that she remembered me!  Yeay Emily!

Emily and David are a super sweet and creative couple and they had some fun ideas for me- so together we ran around town and took some photos!  I have to say that I am pretty happy with the results! Thanks for an inspiring session.   : )

We started things off at the north side of the Capitol.   Emily has the best candid laugh!

Then David spotted this cool church across the street and he immediately decided that he needed a photo while doing the slide!

Next stop was downtown.  We parked in a garage and ended up with some “garage photos”!

edeng3

David works at the Frost- and of course we had to include the crazy cool building in a few pics!

Mandy + Allan – austin engagement photography

Mandy and Allan are Mr. and Mrs. and I have so many of their photos to show you!     We got Mandy’s bridals…their wedding…
But let’s start things off with the engagements!
First off- I love it when couples wear colors to engagement shoots!  Yeay for Mandy and Allan for great outfits!
I feel like engagements really set the tone for photographer/bride+groom relationship.  It’s like if you have fun at the engagement shoot- the rest is going to be great too!

I can certainly say that I had fun at this shoot.  This sweet couple surprised me with how much fun they had, the ideas that they had and how open minded they were to my ideas.  I LOOOVE that!

Just wait until you get to see Mandy’s bridals!  The above sentence rang true for that day too!

Mandy and Allan love wine and wine bars.  They wanted their engagement photos to reflect that.

Meredith + Toby – austin engagement photography

Meredith and Toby met me on a windy day for some engagement photos.
The moment Meredith walked into the studio and I saw what she was wearing… I was sold!  I usually don’t recommend a white dress for engagement photos but the girl can pull it off!   I love the blue heals too!     These guys are so cute and I really enjoyed hanging out with them.  They are so laid back and that’s just the cherry on top!   Their big day is just a few weeks away and I can’t wait to party with them!
Thanks guys for a fun afternoon!  : )

I’m mad about these colors!   I used to be all about b&w but I’ve really “seen” colors in the last couple of years.  I so get a kick out of finding color when shooting!

To the owner of this bug:
Thank you for parking your super cute car in the right place- at the right time!

Michelle + Matt | East Austin engagement photos

Michelle and Matt are getting married in just a few weeks!  woohoo!

I am so excited to shoot their wedding- specially since we had so much fun during their engagement shoot.  Aren’t they a cute couple?
We had the perfect light and got to explore a couple of great spots around Austin.
Check out some of my favorite shots!
Thank you guys for a fun afternoon!

So cute!

Work it out…hot hot couple!!!

Michelle has the best laugh!

Then we moved to a park for a few nature shot…

Ok- do you see the moon?  What a perfect clear afternoon!

Heather + Josh | East Austin engagement photography

Heather and Josh are such a fun couple!  The very first time I met them, I knew I was going to enjoy working with them.  They both had so many fun ideas for their photos and they are literary up for anything! Apart from that, these two have great style and are so cute together- which makes the perfect combination for engagement photos.
I loved how they could be super goofy and funny one minute and totally hot and cool the next!

We went to the Cathedral of Junk (Heather’s idea) for some photos and ended up in east Austin for some more urban stuff.

I can’t wait to shoot their wedding this fall!  Thank you guys for a fun afternoon!  : )

Can you spot them?

Seriously?  Josh can jump really high!

Josh has this really cool vintage bike that they brought along for some photos.  I love that!

Then on to East Austin!  Don’t you just love Heather’s dress?  So cute!

The colors worked so well!  I am in love with their outfits!

Now that’s a smoking couple!  : )
